Open the Book

Open the Book is a Bible Society project which offers primary school children the chance to hear key Bible stories.

The parish has a team of 15 volunteers who go in to Kempshott Junior school and St Mark’s Primary school to present these stories in a fun way during school assemblies. Everyone looks forward to the visits. The staff and children find the stories resonate with their learning and enjoy talking about them afterwards. 

At Christmas we invite children from Kempshott Infant school to the church for a retelling of the nativity story called ‘The Christmas Journey’.

“Thank you for letting us come to your church on Wednesday. My favourite part was meeting the shepherds and seeing the three kings. It was great fun!”
